Croke Park
Home to the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), Croke Park has been at the heart of Irish sporting life for over a hundred years. Steeped in history, this landmark arena is the largest stadium venue in Ireland. Following its recent redevelopment, Croke Park now has capacity for 82,300 people and is the fourth largest stadium in Europe. 1.6 million people visited Croke Park in 2005 and this is expected to increase to over 2 million in 2006.
In 1998 a major high technology Museum incorporating numerous items of GAA memorabilia was opened. The Museum will act as a link between the past, present and future of the GAA and in so doing will pay tribute to the people and events which were so influential in shaping our past, whilst also conveying a vision of the GAA of the future to its visitors.
