The Championship Course
The Christy O'Connor Jnr. Championship course is a first class test of golf in a wonderful parkland setting and the combination of perfectly manicured fairways, superb putting greens and beautiful mature trees offer the golfer a wonderful and inspiring golfing experience.
The 18th hole on The Championship course is one of the great finishing holes in Ireland and with its imposing lakes and gushing fountain it has a real Belfry feel to it. Christy O'Connor Jnr reckons "The 16th, 17th and 18th represent one of the best finishing stretches in Ireland".
Course Highlights
8th Hole
This hole measures 182 yards from the championship tee and needs a lot of focus by the golfer not to fall into the traps that await.
With water from tee to green and out of bounds down the right hand side, it takes a confident strike to land the ball on the green and miss the bunkers that lie in wait for an off centre shot.
18th Hole - "The O'Connor Pass"
The 18th Hole is one of the great finishing holes in Ireland. As the golfer stands on the tee-box they are faced with an inspirational par four that demands an acute level of accuracy.
To successfully hit the fairway from the tee the golfer must manoeuvre their ball through a narrow gap that is protected by mature trees on both sides while at the same time avoiding the first of two lakes that runs down the left hand side of the fairway.
Having successfully hit the fairway the golfer is then faced with a daunting second shot to the green with the main obstacle being a lake that runs right up to the front edge of the green. A good score at this hole will certainly make the 19th hole even more enjoyable.
